GeolOil - How to verticalize a MD LAS file to TVDSS
This video shows how to convert a well log LAS file originally recorded on the Measured Depth (MD)
reference system, to a True Vertical Depth Sub Sea (TVDSS) reference system.
To study fluid contacts like Gas-Oil, or Water-Oil, it is no only necessary to verticalize
or flatten the well, but refer its datum height to the Sea Level. Then, several wells with Gas-Oil
contacts are expected to have the same TVDSS depth contact value.
The video starts showing an inclined well with a clear Gas-Oil contact, then the slanted original well path
trajectory is copied onto a new bare LAS template on the TVDSS reference system. After copying all
the well curves and their aliases, the display pattern template is also copied and the conversion in done.
